Changing element ownership via the Textual Editor
To change element ownership via the Textual Editor
In the Textual Editor, select the element notation you want to move, including its name and the closing semicolon or the contained body.

}- Cut the selection in one of the following ways:
- On the keyboard, press Ctrl+X.
- Right-click the selection and in the shortcut menu, click Cut.
- Place the cursor within the curly braces of the intended owning element.
- Paste the selection in one of the following ways:
- On the keyboard, press Ctrl+V.
- Right-click the selection and in the shortcut menu, click Paste.
- Click the Synchronize button.

To change element ownership via the Containment tree
- In the Containment tree, click the element whose owner you want to change.
- Drag it onto the intended owner.
The element is moved to the new owning element.
Changing element ownership via element symbol in a view
To change element ownership via element symbol in a view
- In a view, click the symbol of the element whose owner you want to change.
- Drag it onto the element symbol of the intended owner.
The element is moved to the new owning element.Dragging and dropping the symbol itself changes the element's ownership which is different from the functionalities provided by the (2026x) Drag and Drop handler.
Changing element ownership via the smart manipulator in a view
To change element ownership via the smart manipulator in a view
- In a view, select an element symbol, and in its smart manipulator, click the feature membership icon.
- Click on the element you want to be the owner, then the element you want to designate as the owned one. A feature membership path is created between the elements.

- In the View Palette, under the Other Relationships group, select feature membership.
- Draw a line with the diamond symbol at the end of the element symbol you want to be the owner.
