Overview

This activity diagram describes how organizations identify and prepare SysML v1 projects for migration to SysML v2.

Process

The process begins by reviewing existing SysML v1 projects and selecting those that are relevant for migration.

In addition to selecting projects, organizations must determine which baselines or project versions should be migrated. Migrating the complete historical evolution of a project is often impractical due to the significant effort required for each migration.

To support this decision, the SysML v1 environment should be capable of automatically evaluating migration readiness by identifying unsupported model elements and estimating transformation feasibility.

Once a project is selected:

  • The project is marked for migration.
  • Migration readiness is assessed.
  • Access to the source model may be restricted to prevent further modifications during migration preparation.

This helps ensure that the migration process is performed against a stable project baseline.
