The Notification window displays various notification messages regarding any important information you may need to review, such as errors in the model, missing features, etc. Any notification that is displayed in the tool, even after it is closed, can be reviewed in the Notification window at any moment.

Opening the Notification window

To open the Notification window, do one of the following


  • On the Main menu, click Window > Notification Window.
  • On the keyboard, click Ctrl+M.
  • Click the button on the bottom right corner of a notification.
  • Click either of the following icons on the Status line: .

    If you cannot see the Notification window icon on the Status line, it means there are no new notifications since the last time the Notification window was viewed.

Description of Notification window areas

The Notification Window consists of the following areas:

Toolbar

The toolbar allows you to manage notifications. All buttons are described in the following table.

Open ConfigurationClick to open the Notifications options in the Environment Options dialog to manage Notification display time, Minimal severity level, etc., for the tool.

Scroll to the Start

Click to scroll to the top of the Notification area.

The button is disabled if there are too few notifications in the Notification area to scroll.

Scroll to the End

Click to scroll to the end of the Notification area. 

The button is disabled if there are too few notifications in the Notification area to scroll.

Lock PositionClick to lock the Notification area at a specific position it is scrolled to. Once the Notification window is reopened, the Notification area will remain fixed in the set position.

Clear Messages

Click to remove all notifications from the Notification area.

To see past notifications once they have been cleared, use the Show Full History button.

Show Full History

Click to display past notifications that have appeared in the project. By default, the notifications of the last 30 days are displayed. 

You can change the number of days the notifications are stored in history via the Retain History option (Environment Options > Notifications).

Find

Click to open the Find menu, which contains:

  • Close button. Click it to close the Find menu.
  • Search field. Input the search word/phrase you want to look for in the Notification area.
  • Find Next button. Click to highlight the next instance of the searched word.
  • Find Previous button. Click to highlight the previous instance of the searched word.
  • Highlight button. Click to highlight all instances of the searched word.

The search highlights only the visible results. To highlight the result not only in the notification name but also in the notification message, display the full notification message by clicking the More... button next to the notification name.

  • Match Case check box. Select it to make the search case-sensitive.

Notification area

The Notification area displays:

  • The timestamp of the notification.
  • The notification name.
  • The notification message. To view the full notification message, click More... next to the notification name. Click Less... to hide the notification message.
    The notification message may contain:
    • A link to the element with the error in the Containment tree.
    • A link to the documentation for more information. 

Tabs

The Notification window contains two tabs:

  • The Project tab contains all project-specific notifications.
  • The Environment tab contains all non-project-specific notifications.
