You can change the selected environment and its mode via the Select Perspective dialog. Just keep in mind that the project will not be converted automatically. When you select another perspective, only the GUI will change, but the project will not be migrated to the new framework.
To open the Select Perspective dialog
- Click Options > Perspectives > Perspectives.
The Select Perspective dialog opens.
However, if you need to change the project's framework, you must convert it to the required framework.
Before converting a model from one framework to another, make sure there are no elements locked by other users.
To convert an enterprise model to another Enterprise Architecture Framework (EAF)
- In the modeling tool's main menu, click File > Convert To and select the needed perspective from the following:
- DoDAF
- DoDAF 2.0
- MODAF
- NAF
- NAF 4.0
- UAF
- UAF Enterprise Architecture (related to EA-BPMN perspective)
- The Question dialog opens. Click Yes.
In the following example, you can see how UAF 1.2 viewpoints and view specifications align with NAF 4.0 packages.
- When the packages of one framework correlate with those of another, they are mapped during conversion, and the package names are adjusted to fit the framework.
- When the packages of one framework do not correlate with another framework, they remain unchanged after the conversion.
- When you have packages with custom names, they do not change after the conversion.
- When you have several packages with the same name, after the conversion, those packages are merged into one.
